A Glassful of Gin

New set of six plates installed

My tile panel

The downstairs space (t-shirts and prints by Genevieve Ryan, work by Marc Noble, my pieces)

Charming tote bags by Emma Henderson (Showpony)

The upstairs space with garments by Joseph McGee (foreground) and others

Ceramic work by Cosima Sempill

Lego chair by Nick Ross

Saturday's exhibition by the Gin Palace Collective went off a treat - an intriguing space, beautifully hung by Leah and Ruth Black (creative brains behind the Gin Palace) and an inspiring selection of work by emerging and established designers made for a genuinely exciting event! The gin and tonics were delicious too.

The Gin Palace Pop Up Exhibition

Along with Genevieve Ryan, Marc Noble and Ursula Cheng (all fellow ECA illustration graduates) I am exhibiting for one night only at new Glasgow-based design collective the Gin Palace's pop-up exhibition The Shape of Things to Come on Saturday the 28th November. This selling exhibition in an empty listed building on Miller Street, Glasgow, brings together an exciting and varied grouping of work from illustrators, jewellers, products designers, textile and fashion designers, animators and more and should be a fantastic evening! By invite only- if you would like to come send me an email and I can mail you an e-invite. I've been hard at work producing new plates for the event – one of which you can see above... more images to follow after the weekend!

Installation at the Tiny Gallery

I had some heartening news on saturday when I chanced upon the Made in the Shade Maisonette (well worth a visit) in De Courcy's arcade off Glasgow's Byers Road... the lovely ladies who run Made in the Shade chose my submission for the Tiny Gallery (at 1m squared it is indeed very tiny, but therein lies its charm)... thus I will be exhibiting an installation there in February 2010. Read more here... and watch this space for scneak previews. I am most excited!

Magpie Market at the Lot

As the stunning image above aptly demonstrates Lizzy Stewart and I are joining forces to take on the craft world once more, this time at Magpie Market in the Lot in the Grassmarket, Edinburgh, on Sunday the 6th of December (a week on sunday) from 12 noon until 6. Great christmas shopping opportunity for the craftily-minded among you. More info here.

Paint

I rather like some of these images from Vivien McDermid's graphic short story which won the Observer/Jonathon Cape prize... (You can read/look at the whole tale via the link)... makes me quite inspired to attempt one myself - something I've contemplated for quite a while... it's a fantastic way to tell a story, though I reckon making it work is deceptively simple.

Fortune Telling and Foxes

Well actually they're dogs, but foxes had a better ring to it. Here's some of the new plates I've created...

Here's a new scrap-inspired logo I've adopted...oh yyeeeah.
